American Board of Anesthesiology
Dr. Goldsworthy was born and raised in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. His early interest and love of science led him to consider medicine or engineering as a career. He obtained a BS degree in Electrical Engineering with a specialty in semiconductor engineering at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, all while completing his pre-medical studies. Upon graduation he was unsure of his career path, however, he obtained a position at Hewlett-Packard (HP) in Ft. Collins, Colorado as a Research and Development Engineer, specializing in semiconductor production. He would spend six years in this position.
During his time in Colorado he developed his love of skiing at the world class slopes only an hour away from home. While working at HP Dr. Goldsworthy won a scholarship to Stanford University, and obtained a MS degree in Electrical Engineering, specializing in semiconductor physics. Shortly thereafter he moved to Santa Rosa, California and continued working for HP for another three years. The desire to study medicine never left however, and in 1994 at the age of 30 he went back to the UW-Madison and obtained his MD, graduating in 1998. He completed his internship in internal medicine at UCSF/St. Mary’s in San Francisco in 1999, and then went on to complete a residency in Anesthesiology at UC-San Diego School of Medicine in 2002. Afterwards he stayed on at UCSD as Clinical Faculty in General and Cardiothoracic anesthesia until mid-2003.
Since 2003 he has been working with Anesthesia Consultants of California in Northern San Diego County as an anesthesiologist. Dr. Goldworthy’s practice is mainly within the Palomar Health System, where he currently serves as Chief of Staff at Palomar Health – Poway. In late 2022 he was presented with an opportunity to practice anesthesiology at Mammoth Hospital, allowing him to combine his love of medicine with his love of skiing and mountain life. Since then he splits his time between San Diego County and the Mammoth community, allowing him and his family to experience the best of what California has to offer: sand, surf, the coast, mountains, and skiing.
