Biography

Dr. Howell grew up in Michigan and graduated with high honors from Michigan State University in Natural Sciences. From there he graduated in the top 15% of his class from Wayne State School of Medicine in Detroit. During his residency term at St. John Hospital and Medical Center in Detroit, he was elected chief resident in Emergency Medicine. There he was also elected senior resident and received the Teacher of the Year award. Before moving to Mammoth, Dr. Howell practiced Emergency Medicine at St. John’s North Shore Hospital in Michigan.

Dr. Howell and his wife moved to Mammoth in 2001 because of its natural beauty and many recreational opportunities the area has to offer. Their interests include cross country and telemark skiing, hiking, camping, and any activity they can do together with their kids, Eva and Jude. Dr. Howell enjoys working for Mammoth Hospital because of the closeness of the physicians, and appreciates the upbeat and energetic nature of its staff.
