John Payton, DO

Biography

Recently retiring from over 20 years of Naval service, Dr. Payton joined Mammoth Hospital in 2017 as the Anatomic Pathologist and Laboratory Medical Director.

During his service, he worked at large medical centers such as Walter Reed and Naval Medical Center San Diego as well as smaller hospitals such as Naval Hospital Guam and Camp Pendleton. During deployment onboard USNS Mercy, he worked in Fiji, New Guinea, Philippines and Vietnam.

Dr. Payton in his spare time enjoys reading history, music, and spending time outdoors; especially with family and friends. Dr. Payton has been married for over 30 years. He and his wife enjoy spending time with their daughter and new grandson.
