Biography

Dr. Collin LaPorte, MD grew up in Missoula, Montana where an early love for the mountains and outdoor adventure shaped much of his life. He attended Montana State University, earning a bachelor’s degree in Cell Biology and Neuroscience before heading to Michigan State University College of Human Medicine for medical school. In his last two years of medical school, he participated in the Rural Physician Program in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula where he learned to care for a rural population with limited access to medical resources. During that time, he also worked as a ski patrolmen which allowed him to combine his love for medicine with the mountains.

Following medical school, Dr. LaPorte moved to Cleveland, Ohio to complete his orthopaedic surgery residency at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation. During his training in Cleveland, he gained extensive experience in caring for a medically complex patient population and developed a strong foundation in managing challenging orthopaedic conditions. While he greatly appreciated his time and training in Cleveland, he is incredibly excited to return to the mountains.

Outside of the hospital, Dr. LaPorte’s passions lie in outdoor recreation and spending time with his loved ones. Snow skiing, water skiing, trail running, hunting, and exploring restaurants and breweries with his friends and family are at the top of his list. Dr. LaPorte is thrilled to move to the Mammoth Lakes community with his wife, Mary and their dog, Kona.
