Biography

Dr. Ben Mundell is originally from the Midwest, growing up in both Kalamazoo, Michigan and Rochester, Minnesota. He is a Distinguished Graduate of the US Air Force Academy and spent nearly a decade as an Air Force Officer prior to completing medical school at the Mayo Clinic Alix School of Medicine in Rochester, Minnesota. He completed his General Surgery residency at Mayo Clinic with rotations at both the Rochester and Phoenix campuses. While in residency he received the Mayo Brothers Distinguished Fellowship Award, the highest award given for outstanding clinical performance, humanitarianism, and scholarly activity.

Dr. Mundell remains active in health policy and health care delivery research with an interest in improving patient and provider decision making, quantifying and optimizing patient care, and enhancing the rural health care workforce.

Dr. Mundell is no stranger to the Eastern Sierra, having spent many weekends fly fishing in the area during his time as a doctoral student at the Pardee RAND Graduate School in Santa Monica, California where he earned a PhD in Policy Analysis. He enjoys caring for the Eastern Sierra community and spending his spare time flying, mountain biking, fly fishing, climbing, and skiing especially with his wife and four children.
