Biography

Dr. Alar Saaremets was born and raised in Estonia, one of the Baltic states. He graduated from the Tartu University’s Faculty of Medicine and after his residency training at the Tartu University Hospitals, Dr. Saaremets started practicing as an Anesthesiologist/Intensivist at the Tallinn Children’s Hospital, Estonia. Beautiful capital city and medieval town on the Baltic Sea.

Due to unexpected circumstances he had to leave in a hurry and start a new life abroad and learn a new language.

He was able to repeat the residency program at the University of Chicago Hospitals. He tremendously enjoyed every minute of his residency. Getting that additional superior training in an advanced healthcare world was all worth leaving everything behind. After graduation, in July of 2001, he joined the Anesthesia Group at the Tahoe Forest Hospital, where he is still practicing.

Alar enjoys swimming in open lakes, biking, skiing (Nordic skiing mostly) and traveling.
