Celebrating Our Newest DAISY Nurse

Daisy Award 2026

Mammoth Hospital is proud to recognize PACU nurse Summer Kniveton, RN as the latest recipient of the prestigious Award for extraordinary nursing care.

Summer was nominated twice by patients who experienced firsthand the compassion, professionalism, and attentiveness she brings to every interaction. Their stories highlighted not only her clinical expertise, but also the genuine kindness and reassurance she provides during some of patients’ most vulnerable moments.

One patient described how Summer helped ease their anxiety before a procedure by taking extra time to explain what to expect, checking in frequently, and creating a sense of calm through her warmth and professionalism. Another patient recalled waking from surgery in severe pain and how Summer responded immediately with attentive care and comfort — even holding the patient’s hand when asked and ensuring they were stable before reuniting them with family members.

Summer has been a nurse for eight years and joined the Mammoth Hospital team nearly two years ago.   These deeply personal moments reflect the qualities that make Summer an exceptional nurse and caregiver.

Winning the DAISY Award is a great reminder that the support we provide patients every day impacts them beyond the moments we spend together. Nurses deserve recognition for the care and knowledge they bring to the bedside, and I am humbled to be included in that recognition. It has been inspiring to work at a small, community hospital where the team is willing to go the extra lengths to make sure their family, friends, neighbors, and visitors get the care they deserve.

The DAISY Award honors nurses who go above and beyond in providing compassionate, skillful care to patients and families. Mammoth Hospital is grateful for Summer’s dedication and proud to have her serving the Eastern Sierra community every day.
