Melanie Van Winkle
Melanie Van Winkle, Mammoth Hospital Chief Financial Officer, joined the team in January 2010 and brings over 22 years of financial experience in health care. Prior to working at Mammoth Hospital, Van Winkle worked at Valley Health System as Vice President of Finance and was Revenue Cycle Executive Director at Palomar Pomerado Health in San Diego. Van Winkle was surprised when she stumbled upon Mammoth Hospital in 2009 - quite literally. On a walk with her family while camping close by, she came across the hospital and on a whim, walked in and saw the CFO position advertised. for the ability to live and work in a smaller community and she had always thought Mammoth Lakes to be a great place to live given the opportunity. Shortly after her vacation to Mammoth she applied for the job, and the rest as they say is history. Van Winkle’s work philosophy is to help people to be successful in their own positions by bridging communication gaps and asking questions. Van Winkle works with high integrity and works hard to stay apprised of current health care regulations.
Van Winkle aside from her career at Mammoth Hospital enjoys being an active member of the community and spending time with family. Her husband, Eric owns his own small business, and is a volunteer firefighter for the town of Mammoth Lakes. Their youngest son attends Mammoth Elementary School, while three other children are away at college. The family enjoys camping, hiking, biking, skiing, and occasional travel.
