Maria King, D.O., Vice Chair
Dr. Maria King was appointed a seat to the SMHD board of directors in 2012. She grew up in Maywood, New Jersey and attended UCLA in 1985 earning a Ph.D. in Computer Engineering. Before going into medicine, she worked for the Department of Defense as a Computer Security expert. Dr. King completed her residency training at Children’s Hospital of Orange County in 2005. She completed two additional years of training in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, (NICU) at UCLA while conducting research in preterm birth for the National Institutes of Health. Dr. King is a Board Certified Pediatrician and has been a member of the Medical Staff at Mammoth Hospital since 2007, opening her own practice, Day & Night Pediatrics, in 2011.

| Dr. King has been a long-time member of the National Ski Patrol winning the Southern California Outstanding Female Ski Patroller award in 2002. She has been a member of the June Mountain volunteer ski patrol since 2006. She is an active supporter and fundraiser for the Mammoth Mountain Community Foundation, the Mammoth High School Boosters, and has received several grants from the American Academy of Pediatrics for community outreach programs which she has implemented in Mammoth Lakes. She lives in Mammoth with her husband, Jon, and her daughter Peri, a member of the MMSA Junior Snowboard team and freshman at Mammoth High School.
