Edward Forstenzer, Member at Large

Judge Edward Forstenzer was appointed a seat to the SMHD board of directors in 2011. He grew up in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, graduated from the University of Michigan in 1968, and received a law degree from the University of California-Hastings College of Law in 1971. He began his law practice with California Indian Legal Services in Bishop, California in 1972, and went into private practice in 1976. He opened an office in Mammoth Lakes in 1979 and continued the practice of law until 1988, when he was elected Judge of the Mono Justice Court, and was appointed a United States Magistrate Judge (1988-1994). He was elected to the Mono Superior Court in 1998 and served until his retirement in 2010.

Judge Forstenzer was appointed to the California Judicial Council where he served from 1993-1996. Thereafter, he served on many of the Council's advisory committees and task forces. He has served on the board of the High Sierra Energy Foundation as well as the Burton Awards for Legal Achievement. He currently serves by assignment to various California courts.
